Biography

DAVID FEIERTAG, bass, is well known for his impressive interpretations in a wide variety of styles ranging from Monteverdi to Wagner to Aaron Copland. Mr. Feiertag has sung with many of America’s finest opera companies including Fresno Grand Opera, Sarasota Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Mobile Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Wichita Grand Opera & Carnegie Hall.

He has brought to life such characters as Osmin (Die Entfurung aus dem Serail), Hunding (Die Walkure), Colline ( La Boheme), Il Grande Inquisitore (Don Carlo), and Il Re (Aida), Zuniga (Carmen), Betto (Gianni Schicchi). As Olin Blitch (Susannah), the Fresno Bee commented that he “sang with authority and just the right measure of irony to capture the hypocrisy of the religious leader. His voice and demeanor commanded every scene in which he appeared.” The Mobile Register noted that “the booming bass” of his Grandpa Moss “conveys the strength and resolve of a man who earns his living off the land.” Mr. Feiertag has appeared as the bass soloist in Mozart’s Vesperae Solemnes at Carnegie Hall and was featured on the ESPY awards broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall.

Equally at home in musicals and operetta, Mr. Feiertag has also sung such roles as The Mikado (The Mikado), The Pirate King (The Pirates of Penzance), Lord Brockhurst (The Boyfriend), Hucklebee in (The Fantasticks) and Judge Turpin (Sweeney Todd). Most recently he appeared as the bass soloist in Verdi’s Requiem with Taconic Opera/Chappaqua Symphony, as well as singing the role of Il Commendatore in Don Giovanni for Taconic Opera and Montano for Fresno Grand Opera’s production of Otello. Most recently David has performed Sparafucile in Rigoletto and Dr. Bartolo in Il barbierie di Siviglia.
